Little Brother

I'm so sick of Utah fans around here.

Friday I was watching the Cougars win their first tournament game since 1993 in the library at my school during lunch when a bunch of people showed up in utah apparel and started cheering loudly for Florida. When asked about how the Utes did this season they promptly (and expectedly) responded, "I don't follow Utah basketball."

Of course you don't. They suck this year.

I just saw a post on Facebook from a Utah fan cheering on the Kansas State Wildcats.

Look, you don't have to cheer for BYU. I don't cheer for Utah, even when it's "good for the conference." Call me irresponsible and immature; I still don't cheer for them. But seriously, at least I have the decency to keep it to myself.

Utah didn't even make the NIT--the loser's bracket.

Grow up, Yewts.

I agree. Immature fans of any team are embarrassing and irritating.

This is late...

Gotta admit, I was cheering for Florida State during that game, in the library. But I swear on my life, it was only because everyone was so intense and it kinda made me laugh, considering it was at school, in the library, with teachers. Ya know?

And by the way, you live in Utah. You might want to get used to these "Yewts".

Frankly, I'm just glad this gets so heated between the two sides, because if it didn't, that would mean no one cared about college sports, and in a world with no college sports, I cease to exist.

Haha that makes sense.

Florida state? It was florida.

So it was funny that we were taking it seriously because it was at school? Well the game was going on during school, so I couldn't watch it anywhere else... I'm not sure what makes that so funny.

There are two solutions to this immaturity:
I could "get used" to it. Or Utah fans could attempt to have some sense of maturity and act like normal, mature human beings.

It's funny because how many other sports games have you watched with your teachers? I think it's safe to say you could count them on one hand. Maybe even one finger. Laugh. It's funny. It'd be funny if it were a Utah game too.

And you could have watched it on any tv in Utah... not just at school. Yes, you wanted to stay at school, but if you had wanted an all-Cougars, no-Utes environment, you should have watched it elsewhere.

ps (As long as there is a college rivalry, there will be 'immature' fans on both sides.)

I wanted to stay at school? Uh, yeah...it was during school. What was I going to do? Go home to watch it and miss a good portion of the game and miss class when it was available in the library?

I'm a loyal BYU fan, it doesn't matter if Mrs. Hogan or Principal Tennis is sitting next to me, I'm still going to cheer on my cougars. Are you saying if it had been Utah playing you would have just stood up and been like,

"I'm sorry, I can't watch this, it's just too funny that I'm sitting next to Mr. Gill. Haha, good luck Utes! Double overtime means nothing to me!"

Pretty sure you wouldn't.

Also, I never suggested that I wanted an all-cougar, no utes environment. I said that it was retarded that utah fans were immature enough to be loud and annoying about it. It's march madness, and I go in there to watch the first round every year, so I was quite aware that there would be people in there that weren't there to cheer on BYU, and it doesn't bug me at all.

Again, your argument about immature fans is immature in and of itself. "There's going to be immature people, grow up." Last time I checked, this is my blog and I can complain and wish that Utah fans weren't immature all I want. Yes, I know that Utah fans never will grow up--it's what characterizes them. It's like turning back on your heritage.

"Me? Be mature? Never! I'm a Utah man! Yes I am!"

"Learn the fight song? That's absurd! How could I call myself a Utah fan if I knew more than 'Go Yewts!'?"
